Evolution Scientists Fight Back
The head of the Natural History Museum at the University of Kansas says a new exhibit on evolution is neither a textbook nor an effort to convert skeptics.
A 4-foot-tall double helix model helps explain the structure of DNA at the "Explore Evolution" museum exhibit. But Leonard Krishtalka expects the "Explore Evolution'' exhibit now open to the public will touch off debate nonetheless. Reporters were given a tour of the exhibit in KU's Dyche Hall. It consists of a half-dozen stations showing how evolutionary concepts are woven into several scientific disciplines. Five other universities around the country are also hosting "Explore Evolution'' exhibits. The project has been in the planning stages for four years. The exhibit in Lawrence Kansas will remain in place for two years. It's funded with a grant from the National Science Foundation.
