Loch Lloyd Monster Dead

A security guard at Loch Lloyd shot and killed a 7 ½-foot alligator that mysteriously appeared in the up-scale subdivision’s lake. Darrell Lancaster shot the gator Thursday after a resident reported seeing it swimming near his home. Lancaster said he was skeptical at first, but investigated the alleged sighting because residents of the Cass County community swim and fish in the lake. He didn’t spot the gator Wednesday evening when the report came in, but returned early Thursday. After conferring with Missouri Department of Conservation officials, Lancaster used a .308 deer rifle to kill the gator. “We have no idea where it came from,” Lancaster said today. “But this lake has a 3,000-acre watershed so it could have come from miles away.”
